Vendetta Cycles Mad Max

Vendetta Cycles Mad Max

After exhibiting at this year’s NAHBS, Vendetta Cycles haven’t rested on their laurels. This weekend they’ll be making a splash at the San Diego Custom Bicycle Show with this bike, a Columbus MAX pista frame titled, naturally, ‘Mad Max’.

Vendetta Cycles is the partnership between Garrett Clark and Conor Buescher, and after their Green Hornet caused such a stir when we featured it, I was keen to see what they came up with next. Mad Max is, as the name alludes, constructed from Columbus MAX tubes, including the fork, bottom bracket shell and lugs. The lugs and bottom bracket shell have been carved to make them even more pleasing to the eye, and brass fillets have been added to the seat lug to blend the surfaces. Widening the seat lug to envelope the stays created a strong seat tube cluster without having to cut or trim them. The polished stainless steel stem was supplied, in kit form, by the legendary Darrell McCulloch of Llewellyn Bikes. It’s a serious track machine, the sun and moon miniature paintings on the fork legs are a fabulous detail.

You can see Mad Max in person at the San Diego Custom Bicycle Show this weekend, and in the meantime, there’s plenty more detail shots and build photos on the Vendetta Cycles flickr stream.
