The man behind the Brodie Bicycles name is Paul Brodie. Originally an artist and motorcycle fanatic, he began painting and brass-welding frames for mountain bikes in 1985.
It wasn’t long before he invented and trademarked the Vancouver sloping top tube, launching a brand of bikes bearing the Brodie name. On September 29th, 2005, Paul was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame at Interbike in Las Vegas, creating an international fan base for the Vancouver brand.
Built with the individual rider in mind, Brodie bikes are designed to blaze the trails of your choosing — from epic off-roading to beachside cruising.
Back in 2014, we featured a monstrously innovative downhill MTB: Paul Brodie’s 69er. After a fresh restoration, it debuted at the 2020 BC Bike Show as a proud statement of his incredible talent as a designer and fabricator. The Spoken is proud to present, in Paul’s own words, the story of that process.
After teaching countless students how to build their own frames, Paul Brodie has finally managed to make something for himself, this rowdy 27.5″ MTB. It’s a personally sentimental creation, too.
