Velo City: Bicycle Culture and City Life

F. Moser Cromovelato

F. Moser Cromovelato

Italians have a natural propensity for embellishment, regardless of the application. Their passionate enthusiasm for cycling has created a fertile environment for decoration: if they’re not crimping tubes, they’re installing cobalt blue rocks in brake calipers or laying down elaborate paint schemes. This F. Moser is a relatively subtle example, chromed and tinted in a finish referred to as ‘cromovelato’.

It was enough to catch the eye of Melbourne photographer Andy Rogers, who had dropped into Melbourne bicycle boutique Saint Cloud. Dressed in a completely pantographed Campagnolo group set, it bears the unmistakable finger print of Melbourne’s classic Italian steel aficionado, Andrew White from Fyxomatosis. Even the bar end caps bear the F.M marque, while Francesco Moser’s 1984 Hour-Record beating time of 51.151 is proudly displayed wherever possible.

If you’ve a penchant for impeccably dressed Italians, this F. Moser is for sale. You can contact Saint Cloud in Melbourne through their website, and there’s more detail photos on Andy Roger’s Flickr.
