Winter Bicycles Poignard

Winter Bicycles Poignard

Eric Estlund has been working at an astonishing rate for the past few months. The Springfield, Oregon local divides his time between his role as Vice President of the Oregon Bicycle Constructors Association and the workshop. His latest build is a slender, single speed road bike entitled Poignard.

Eric describes it for us:

“The term ‘poignard‘ refers to a small thrusting dagger. Its tapered shape makes it quick, light and effective. The Winter Bicycles Poignard reflects those qualities with a thin, lightweight frame and a highly customised, dagger-like fork.”

It sure ain’t no broadsword. Winter Bicycles has always been touted as a bike for all seasons, but a style is definitely beginning to develop across Eric’s builds. They are purpose built, no-nonsense frames made with no holiday season exuberances, by a master of the art.

Custom Powderworks applied the paint. Eric built up Poignard with a select mix of parts, including a Cane Creek 110 headset, Winter stem, carbon tubulars laced to custom Yobi hubs, hauled up by Ted Ciamillo’s Micro brakes.
