I’ve been looking forward to the advent of the VANDEYK Nightstream Di2 since the MTB edition was featured on The Spoken. Arendt van Deyk has been dropping teaser shots of the frames in progress, slowly unveiling the development of their road-going frame.
VANDEYK is a sophisticated collective of experts in fields as diverse as design, art, frame building and photography. The latest addition to their collection is constructed from Columbus XCr by Georg Blaschke, who includes a previous career as senior engineer at SRAM on his CV. The unifying feature of both the MTB and Road Nightstream is the stealthy and striking livery, designed by artist Harry Seifert and created by a highly-specialized paint shop, whose customers are usually ‘very well-known super-sportscar manufacturers’.
The Nightstream Di2 is specified with an ENVE seat post, stem, bars, fork and rims – the latter being laced to Chris King R45 hubs and secured by Tune skewers. The brakes and drive train, Shimano’s electronically-shifted Dura-Ace Di2 system, is fully integrated into the frame.
The Nightstream collection is limited to 25 pieces, but won’t be the last we’ll see of the VANDEYK team – expect to see more spectacular collaborations in the not-too-distant future.
