Fast, beautiful vehicles are a local specialty of Stuttgart, Germany’s sixth-largest city. Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Maybach are all produced there. Now the streets of Stuttgart have given rise to a new form of luxury transport: VANDEYK Contemporary Cycles. After a successful trio of steel models, the brand has announced their foray into the realm of carbon fiber.

The road frame is titled, with typical Bavarian straight-forwardness, as Machine For Riding. VANDEYK is already formed from a collective of highly talented specialists in their fields, but they partnered with fellow Stuttgart locals ax-lightness—manufacturers of high-quality carbon automotive and cycling components since the year 2000.

Arendt Van Deyk breaks it down for us: “The creative concept of the collection is all about form and function in spiritual union. Focusing on minimalism and technical beauty, the core design vocabulary of the collection introduces a machine ‘code’ to which all key design elements are translated—going as far as the down tube logo.”

The frame is available in 2cm size increments from 50cm to 62cm, the 56cm weighing in at 870gr, with custom geometry upon request. Designed around a “bold bottom bracket area” for stiffness and a tapered fork, the complete bicycle is specified with Shimano Di2, although a mechanical group frame option is also available. Chris King and ENVE Composites supply further key components.
