If there’s one word to describe Taylor Sizemore’s bikes, it’s unconventional. From his commuters and track bikes to his ‘crossers and road bikes, clever details become apparent only upon closer inspection. They’re raw, with paint-brushed graphics, but like David Mashburn’s radical city bike, they exemplify the handmade quality and reveal a man who loves what he does.
David was after a replacement for his single speed beater and, together with Taylor, developed this concept, and it sure is radical: there’s a single Formula R1 disc brake on the rear, a SRAM Force-and-XX 1×10-speed drivetrain and clearances for 35c tyres on a custom Industry Nine wheel set. Whew.
It really is a tough machine for tough streets, a lack of paint will help it blend into the background. David, incidentally, helped develop the Sizemore branding concept with his firm, Mashburn Katz, which, along with Taylor’s craft, makes it equally as recognisable as any over-developed insignia.
