The Scottish landscape is some of the world’s most dramatic: craggy mountain ranges dotted with freshwater lochs and serene glens. It’s a wild, beautiful land and if you can’t ride through it on a Skinnymalinky by Shand Cycles, a dram of well-aged Scotch whiskey will also give a fine impression.
Steven Shand has been producing handmade frames in Scotland since 2003 but he’s now joined by Russell Stout to bring the frames to a wider market. As well as offering a complete custom frame building service, they now offer three production models, including the versatile Skinnymalinky.
A perfect vehicle for both highland rambling and club rides, the fillet brazed, Reynolds 853 frame is based on a geometry that allows speed and all-day comfort. It easily accepts 28mm tires and fenders — a necessity for Scottish riding. Other braze-ons can be specified, along with hand-built forks.
