REPETE is a Czech brand that have created the perfect blend of aesthetics and craft. They may only have two models in their range but if you’re an adventurous roadie, they may be all you need. This is a golden Reason, their road-going model.
The business was established in 2012 by Mikoláš Voverka and Robin Fišer, who started out collecting and restoring iconic historic racing bikes before the business morphed into what it is today.
The brand made its name in 2015 when it won the award for the Best Road Bike at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show. They went back to their base in Prague — and the drawing board.
Two new models were conceived: the Reason road model which features disc brakes and clearances up to 700x28c and the Verne, an all-road gravel model with the opportunity of fitting 700x40c or 650x47c wheels.
Both frame models are constructed in-house from Columbus HSS steel tubing by a team that specialise in the various parts of the process before final assembly by Mikoláš and Robin, like head chefs that approve the dish before it leaves the kitchen.
The frames are designed around a T47 bottom bracket and tapered headtube, which caters for the Columbus Futura carbon fork. The rear triangle consists of two gently-shaped seat stays, enabling all-day riding on any road surface.
The Reason and the Verne both feature modern details like thru-axles and disc brakes. Their contemporary nature is reflected again by the use of 3D-printed bosses around the internal cable routing.
Along with offering the new models, REPETE also underwent a major rebrand that includes a new website dedicated to encouraging the local riding culture and a new showroom that’s also a clubhouse and workshop.
These are exceptionally modern steel bikes, hand-made by a team devoted to establishing a community around their products. One thing is for sure: the future of the Czech scene is looking bright. Head to the website to learn more.
