Velo City: Bicycle Culture and City Life

Pinarello Stelvio

Pinarello Stelvio

London cyclists have had a wild time over the last few months, what with those stellar performances by both Team Sky and Team GB. Now that the dust is settling and the number of tourists are dwindling to the usual heavy flow, the locals are reclaiming the streets. Erik Jonsson’s daily trainer is this highly visible Pinarello Stelvio, a stark contrast to the famous grey streets on which it rides.

Erik, an associate of London’s 5th Floor crew, has found a balance of old and new by combining the panache of the mid-90s Stelvio with the mechanical superiority of modern Campagnolo componentry. The eclectic mix of Athena, Chorus, Record and Veloce all comes together well, the Zipp wheels, Hope Ti and PMP hubs adding an extra touch of class.

Purists may grimace at the road grime and evidence of daily use, but you have to expect a little when your local streets are those of old London town. Special thanks to Erik Jonssen for the photos. For the complete spec sheet, head over to the 5th Floor Bike Check. Erik’s also an exceptional art director so, if you’re inclined, a browse through his portfolio is also worth a look.
