Velo City: Bicycle Culture and City Life

Noble Cycles Cardio Road

Noble Cycles Cardio Road

One of my Christmas stocking gifts was William Fotheringham’s Merckx: Half-Man, Half-Bike. It chronicles The Cannibal’s fearsome domination of professional cycling during the 60s and early 70s. Belgians foster a great love for cycling and, let’s face it, with a spiritual leader like Eddy, who wouldn’t?

Needless to say, it was an inspiring read. Nicolas Noble is a Belgian frame builder who found inspiration from a cultural leader of the world of custom bicycles: Richard Sachs. This road frame is the latest to emerge from the Noble Cycles workshop and it’s bound to make your heart beat a little faster.

Nicolas has been building frames for three years and has already garnered enough demand to turn it into a full time job. He loves what he does. The frame consists of a silver-brazed Columbus Spirit front triangle and XCR stays. The front end is a Whisky fork coupled with their bars and Ciamillo brakes.

Along the top tube and behind the seat tube is a cardiac cycle diagram, reminding you to keep your breath in check when riding this Noble Cycle. It’s a little hard to see from these shots, you’ll have to head to Nicolas’ website for the full show.
