Mobius Cycle Serotta

Mobius Cycle Serotta

Mobius Cycle blazed their way across the bike blogs recently with an impeccably shot Gan Well Pro Illusion. The photographer who managed to capture the lustrous quality of the Illusion’s iridescent paint and reflective decals also happens to be the mechanic who assembled the build: Niki Hurley. This is the latest creation borne from the Mobius garage, a champagne fade-to-black Serotta CRL.

The CRL was Serotta’s flagship model until the CSi replaced it in 1996. The frame was constructed from a proprietary tube set manufactured by Columbus to Ben Serotta’s specifications called ‘Colorado Concept’. The seat and down tube featured a tapered diameter which increased as it approached the bottom bracket shell. Interestingly, the top tube is both brazed and lugged. Niki has done a great job of color-coordinating the frame and components with the addition of a gold Mavic CXP30 rim and gold tape. A Cinelli Volare saddle with gold accents rounds out the build—a perfect mix of American and Italian cycling heritage.

Check out more of Niki’s incredible bikes and photography (including that amazing Gan Well) on her blog and flickr stream. And if you’re into your classic Serotta, you can browse the catalogs from ’92 to ’99 in hi-def here.
