Hong Kong’s premier custom bike shop, Life Cycle, specialises in supplying some of the world’s best bikes to its discerning clientele, and also fostering a community based around the love of these bikes and the riding of them.

This Festka Asphalt is a recently orchestrated build for a local customer, designed in collaboration with another local, ALT 254: an architecture, project management and branding agency.

Life Cycle holds a unique position in the southeast Asian market: from their Kowloon showroom, they can supply frames from names such as Firefly, Passoni, Indy Fab, Mosaic, Calfee, Alchemy and Zullo.

They’re also the Festka Asia Ambassador, one of a select group of representatives dedicated to bringing the Czech brand to an international market. Mike Fiechtner is a repeat customer, having already engaged their services for a Pegoretti Responsorium.

We’ve featured numerous examples of Festka’s eclectic paint schemes on The Spoken and Mike, being a regular reader, was well aware of their custom offerings. Since he was located in the Asian region, however, he first approached Cherubim during a Tokyo visit.

Unfortunately, Mike was intent on a titanium frame and Cherubim specialises in steel frames. He was also keen for a bespoke paint job. Life Cycle put him in contact with Festka, he selected the Asphalt model, and the serious business began.

Mike sat down with his good friend Vincent at ALT-254 and, over a few beers, nutted out the paint design. The main focus was showing off the raw titanium, so the rear triangle and the head tube logo was left untouched.

The designs were sent through to Festka and it wasn’t long before the frame arrived in Hong Kong. The disc brake-specific frame was built up with Ultegra Di2, along with Chris King bearings and an ENVE cockpit.

There’s thousands of bikes in Hong Kong, but Mike’s bike is unmistakeable.
