Professional frame builders work in a busy, competitive industry, one in which Adeline Mercredi relishes with her contagious #goodvibesonly attitude. Her frames are imbued with the same, which will warm Petra as she rides her Mercredi CX around Sweden.
Adeline’s customer, Petra, recently moved from London to Sweden, so she needed a bike that would endure the harsh wintry conditions, which include riding in sub-zero temperatures. Not only that, she’d be participating in #basemilesnowdown.
That multi-day snow ride required the fresh Mercredi to don studded tires and be of a stable geometry, so Adeline designed a Columbus steel frame with safely wide wheel clearances at the rear and a Whisky Parts N9 carbon fork in the front.
To seal the frame off completely from the elements, especially with the necessary shouldering and ease-of-care needed after every ride in the snow, the cable housing is clipped to the top of the tubes with cable clip-on bosses.
SRAM’s hydraulic Rival group was used, along with Hope bearings and a Zipp finishing kit. Rob at Colourburn Studio conjured up a paint scheme inspired by the northern lights — Aurora Borealis — which reminded Adeline of paint daubs against the sky.
If you look closely at the apertures in the dark blue paint, you can almost imagine the green highlights swirling with the atmospheric pressures that cause the aurora. Look closely at Petra’s smile and you’ll notice she’s got a case of Mercredi’s Good Vibes Only.
