There’s nothing that pleases me more than to see a fine example of Italian steel that’s getting used for what is was intended — riding. Robb Hohmann’s Colnago Sprint is a perfect example; it’s always encouraging when, after an afternoon of riding, one is inspired by the appreciation of the bicycle to capture it against a complimentary background.
Set against the US Capitol, Robb’s Colnago is as statuesque as Lincoln, and the signs of use on the frame is a worthy testament to loyal service. After being purchased on Craigslist by his good friend Nate, Robb had to endure lusting after the ‘Nago while it was hung on the living room wall. Circumstances allowed Robb to finally gain ownership, and Nate was glad to keep the Sprint ‘in the family’, as it were.
Sporting a primarily pantographed Campagnolo / Colnago gruppo, Robb’s ride is the bicycle equivalent of a ‘59 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider, that’s driven for the pure pleasure of it. The Ahearne flask is a nice touch, apparently a quick libation provides protection against the brisk DC temperatures.
