Cinelli’s collaborations continue to produce some amazing works of art, the combined efforts of ground-breaking contemporary artists and designers. It’s a good way of reinventing the 60+ year old company, and helps maintain it’s position at the pinnacle of bicycle innovation. After their work with RVCA last year, featuring artists like Barry McGee and DMOTE, Cinelli have teamed up with two British graphic entities, Eley Kishimoto and Death Spray Custom.

The latest venture brings together Eley Kishimoto, a London based fashion and design company, and Death Spray Custom, a bespoke paint shop also based in the UK. You would have seen plenty of DSC’s work around the blogs in the past. A few examples are the Nitto Love / Hate bars, the Bite project (Ducati 1026, Racelite Track bike and axe with paint inspired by the WWII Flying Tigers) and the Nike Tied Together Project with Tokyo Fixed, Feather Cycles and Baby Crow.

Cinelli supplied a Supercorsa frame and NOS vintage Campagnolo Record gruppo, a stash of which I imagine are held in a tightly guarded chamber in the bowels of the Cinelli factory. Death Spray Custom administered the paint, which is a design by Eley Kishimoto called ‘Flash’. DSC must be all-too familiar with this motif, having already applied it to the tank and seat pan of a flat tracker motorbike for the lads at Sideburn Magazine. The Flash has also been utilized across a jersey and a cap, and, with the bike, will star in a movie showing at the Bicycle Film Festival in London. It will also be part of an exhibition and seminar hosted by Eley Kishimoto called Flash On Week. Check EK’s blog for details.

I’m already looking forward to see what Death Spray Custom comes up with next. It never ceases to impress and inspire. This latest hookup with Cinelli just raised the bar, now we’ll have to wait until the show to see the results on the big screen. Big thanks to Camille John McMillan for the photography, check out his website for beautiful photography from inside the peloton..
