Velo City: Bicycle Culture and City Life

Chiossi Strada

Chiossi Racer

The lineage of Chiossi Cycles can be traced back to 1942 which, compared to Bianchi’s foundation in 1885, is recent but just as esteemed. The brand has been re-invigorated under the guidance of Luciano Pedrielli, a cyclist with a fervor for both design and Italian bicycle culture, and Paolo Chiossi. Chiossi’s Gloria and Maino both proved to be very popular with the readers of The Spoken and their recent Strada model should also arouse the same level of appreciation.

Their Modena shop isn’t big enough to contain the history that exists within it, centered around Lino Messori, an old-world master builder who has also been a boxer, a painter and a poet. The Strada is the first of a production frame, garnished with Campagnolo’s 50th Anniversary Gruppo. The famous manufacturer of wooden rims, Magreglio’s Ghisallo, was partnered with to provide the wheels—it’s all crowned with a pantographed Cinelli cockpit and the elaborate Chiossi head badge.
