Chesini could very well be one of the last traditional and honest handmade Italian frame builders. A thoroughly modern marque, their heritage extends back to 1925 and today, they release the utterly pop model ‘Veronica’ to reinforce their contemporary culture.
After 93 years in the business, and after relocations, changes in the business model, and racing triumphs, the Verona-based workshop still manufactures all of their steel and carbon fiber range of frames by hand.
This special-edition Prima Nica, ‘Veronica’, is an example of their expertise, because the Italians always have and always will specialize in fast and beautiful road-faring bicycles. Chesini’s Prima is as flamboyant as they come.
Like many of company’s models, the Columbus Spirit-tubed frame is TIG-welded, although fillet-brazing is a requestable option — Chesini is still small enough to offer such customization to your order.
The frameset features a tapered head tube and includes a Columbus Futura fork, painted to match in that spectacular color scheme, embellished with a gold leaf panel on the down tube.
The Prima Nica might burn the eyes of the classicist, but it’s no more over-the-top than any of Colnago’s most iconic frames. Self-confidence is a pre-requisite of ownership but one thing’s certain: every ride will bring a smile to your face… and legs.
