Sprinkles To The Metal: Caletti Cycles Donut Scrambler

Most cyclists, like Homer Simpson, are partial to the sugary joys of a donut and if you know of one that isn’t, perhaps you should point them towards the Caletti Cycles Donut Box Pink Scrambler and see if that doesn’t whet their appetite.

The Scrambler is John Caletti’s ideal Santa Cruizer, designed for everyday versatility — whether it’s a fast blast to the beach, an overnight ramble in the mountains, or a go-to grocery getter. It’s also a capable flat-bar ‘crosser or graveleur.

The frame is available in both steel and titanium — this one’s steel — and had onlookers drooling when it was exhibited at the 2019 NAHBS in Sacramento. The owner, however, Covey, is its biggest fan and has already taken it on some long multi-terrain rides.

The model has proved to be a success. The Caletti website has a gallery full, a couple of which has also been featured here, including a Team Zissou-themed version which is the favorite around The Spoken headquarters.

Covey opted for the Rodeo Labs Spork fork with bottle bosses on the legs for extra bottles — or a King Manything Cage. A full suite of hot pink anodized Chis King components is the icing on the, er… donut.

The combination of the above, Magura brakes, a Santa Cruz/Chris King wheelset, and a dropper seatpost tips the scales at a very reasonable 21 pounds. At least this is one donut you can consume vast quantities of without any risk of dangerous weight gain.
