It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here, thanks to Germany’s Big Forest Frameworks and a special holiday edition of their Disc Racer 1.0. All that’s missing is a big bow on top of it, and who wouldn’t like to see this under their Christmas tree?

Big Forests’ Robert Piontek builds a range of models and the Disc Racer 1.0 is the top of the road-going line. This Christmas-themed specimen has some strong steel bones underneath the red and green wrapping.

It’s made entirely of Columbus HSS tubing, with a 44mm bi-oval down tube, custom-curved chain and seat stays for clearance and comfort, a tapered top tube, thru-axles and a 44mm head tube in the front.

Robert didn’t hold back on the accessorizing either, with a green anodized Tune Starkes Stück seat post and Geiles Teil 4.0 stem. Intentionally or not, the red Chris King headset and top cap closely resemble Rudolph’s nose.

As well as the production models, Robert offers aspiring craftspeople the opportunity to build their own frames in one of his framebuilding classes. Desperate spouses and partners take note: this would make a great gift idea for the cyclist in your life.

At any rate, Big Forest’s Christmas Special would be the ideal vehicle to conquer Rapha’s Festive 500. Candycane-flavored bikes are all very well but what I’m really looking forward to is seeing what Robert comes up with for Halloween…
